Stunning black & white & colour pictures of crashes, echelons, mud, dust, disappointment and  rubbish showers show Paris-Roubaix in all it's historical glory. It's split into 11 sections covering every aspect, even the very cobble get one 'Beneath the cobblestones, the North..' describing the urgent drive to find new routes and restore ancient paths threatened by tarmac. Every rider is a hero just to get to Roubaix but one of the best sections singles out the 'greats',  4-times winner Roger De Vlaeminck who seemed to glide over the pave, Eddy Merckx, Sean Kelly, Marc Madiot, Gilbert Duclos-Lassalle, Johan Museeuw, Francesco Moser and Tom Boonen but not forgotten are the early 'greats', Josef Fischer who won the first edition in 1896, the original 'Lion of Flanders' Cyrille Van Hauwaert, first triple winner Octave Lapize, Gaston Rebry (The Bulldog), Rik Van Steenbergen, Rik Van Looy & Fausto Coppi.  This is one of the finest cycling books ever printed.
